This group camp-out is part of the annual pilgrimage to the far end of the lake, up a small, shallow river, to the site of the old village. The village was abandoned in the late 1940’s or early ’50’s and the houses there were later destroyed in a forest fire which swept the area. The graveyard across the river is still maintained by the descendents of the people buried there.
