{"id":740,"date":"2013-10-26T18:56:40","date_gmt":"2013-10-27T00:56:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wayupnorth.ca\/blog\/?p=740"},"modified":"2013-10-26T18:58:38","modified_gmt":"2013-10-27T00:58:38","slug":"tolstoy-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wayupnorth.ca\/blog\/2013\/10\/26\/tolstoy-more\/","title":{"rendered":"Tolstoy &#8230;more"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My intention to <a title=\"blogging tolstoy\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wayupnorth.ca\/blog\/2012\/09\/02\/blogging-tolstoy\/\" target=\"_blank\">blog Tolstoy&#8217;s<\/a> <em>War &amp; Peace<\/em> chapter-by-chapter in <a title=\"Bergstein blogs the Twilight series\" href=\"http:\/\/community.sparknotes.com\/index.php\/2009\/07\/16\/blogging-twilight-index-page\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dan Bergstein<\/a> style got derailed.\u00a0 <em>War and Peace<\/em> turns out to be a fascinating read.\u00a0 I was all the way to chapter 5 before I remembered why I started reading it.\u00a0 By the end of Book I, I realized I wasn&#8217;t going back and starting over just to blog it.<\/p>\n<p>This fall I took an online course, <a title=\"#adobegenpro\" href=\"http:\/\/edex.adobe.com\/pd\/course\/digital-creativity\/\" target=\"_blank\">Adobe Generation Professional:Digital Creativity in the Classroom<\/a>.\u00a0 The creativity theme overlaps nicely with <a title=\"Creativity and Multicultural Communication\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cdlprojects.com\/cmc11blog\/\" target=\"_blank\">CMC 11<\/a> and keeps challenging my notions of playing by the rules.<\/p>\n<p>The week 3 video assignment (in Premiere of course) was to do a 30-second book trailer.\u00a0 Below is my tongue-in-cheek try at the assignment &#8211; and my first use of Adobe Premiere Pro.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1Dtfj5pIO2Q\" height=\"315\" width=\"420\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I had 60 seconds worth of ideas that are crammed into the allowed 30 seconds.\u00a0 I cut out some and compressed other parts.\u00a0 While I&#8217;d like to rework both a longer and a cut version, I must move on to the next week&#8217;s assignment.<\/p>\n<p>In the interest of clarity, the full script for the disclaimer originally read: <em>Warning: may contain scenes of nineteenth century moral impropriety, implied violence, and extreme cruelty to horses and wolves. Readers may suffer disorientation and confusion. Names are impossible to pronounce and even more difficult to remember. Lead character may be referenced by surname, Christian name, familial pet name, title, rank or patronymic or any combination thereof. Portrayals of nobility and serfs are not necessarily approved by the People&#8217;s committee for equal opportunity. Dueling with pistols should only be attempted under responsible adult supervision.
